Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev won his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a challenging season, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first championship since the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt since that period of that year.

The win also means the Russian has secured 21 championships at twenty-one different events.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is particularly special," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.

The player's counter-punching strategy and regular reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was concluded.

But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an improved service.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

The opponent defended four early break points in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he clinched the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
